3,000 pupils of ten primary schools of the western region will be receiving school bags from the Medine Group as from today. The distribution kick-started this Wednesday 16 May at Flic en Flac Government School, during a launch ceremony gathering Thierry Sauzier, CEO of the Medine Group, the zone 4 director of the Ministry of Education, the President of the Black River District Council and several other guests. This initiative supported by Uniciti Education Hub and organised in the event of the 50th Anniversary of the Independence of Mauritius, is in line with the CSR programme of the Medine Group led by the Medine Horizons foundation.
The 153 pupils attending to the ceremony today were also delighted to receive a free entrance to Casela World of Adventures as well as a bracelet. The Uniciti Education Hub team will ensure distribution to the nine other schools located within the catchment area of the Medine Horizons foundation, over the oncoming days.
During the event, Thierry Sauzier, CEO of the Group declared, “Although Medine Group’s commitment in Education translates itself through its educational offer and student facilities offered by Uniciti Education Hub, this engagement goes beyond the frontier of its city. The Group has since long actioned different programmes to promote access to education in the western region. We hence launched this initiative to distribute quality school bags to pupils in the region in the event of the 50th anniversary of the Independence of Mauritius. We hope that having the appropriate equipment during their school years will help and support these pupils in their learning path.
